Armory into Film Studios Heart of West Tampa
(released 7/21/2006)
By Paul Guzzo

There is an effort to turn the old Fort Hesterly Armory into a film studio. Visit http://www.weeklyplanet.com/gyrobase/Content?oid=oid%3A76915 for info on the studio. If you like the idea, make sure to email city council and tell them. There is a public meeting coming up:

The City of Tampa announced today that the RFP Review Committee for the Fort Homer Hesterly Armory will meet to review the six proposals received as well as to discuss last week's presentations and answers to questions posed by the Committee.

The meeting will be held Wednesday, July 26, 2006, at 1:30 p.m. in the fifth floor conference room of the Tampa Police Department, located at 411 North Franklin Street.

All meetings are open to the public. The room will open at 1 p.m.  Those attending will need to check in at the reception desk at the top of the escalator located at the building entrance and will be required to show photo ID for admittance.

For more information regarding the meeting, please contact Annie Hart, Project Coordinator for Business & Housing Development at (813) 274-8317.

Email City Council to tell them you are for the studio: http://www.tampagov.net/dept_City_Council
Or the Mayor: http://www.tampagov.net/appl_customer_service_center/form.asp?strServiceID=133

Go to the meeting... Contact your city. A film studio would only help to bring PAYING production jobs to the area!
