Historic Downtown Miami Hotel To Be Imploded In January Developers Now Accepting Filming Requests

The Everglades Hotel, a Miami landmark built in 1926, is set to be demolished in January of 2005. Cabi Developers will implode the 17-story building located at 244 Biscayne Boulevard, in the heart of downtown Miami, in order to make way for their new contemporary-style condominium, Everglades on the Bay.

The property directly faces the Bayside Marketplace, cruise ships at the Port of Miami and the famed MetroMover. Phenomenal views of the city skyline and miles of bay and ocean waters extend from the site. The area's entire landscape is unobstructed from Biscayne Bay vantage points.

Everglades on the Bay will be a mixed-use project featuring two 49-story towers with 851 flats, lofts and spacious residences, along with 65,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. The retail space will be accessible via a walkway that runs through the center of the building, creating a pedestrian-friendly environment on the ground floor with high-end shops, restaurants and services open to the public. A hidden parking garage creates both an aesthetically pleasing look to the building and convenient access for residents to their designated parking space. The first phase of construction will be complete in 2006.
