Tampa Theatre KidsMakeMovies Summer Camp

This one week camp is offered twice.

June 13-17 and June 20-24, 2005

Entering Grades 3-5: 9am-12noon

Entering Grades 6-8: 1-4pm

Experience the excitement of filmmaking in the beautiful, historic Tampa Theatre, and then see your creations on the Big Screen at the KidsMakeMovies Film Festival.

Participate in the filmmmaking process as part of a production team ~ from creating storyboards and scripts to shooting with digital still and movie cameras. In post production, you'll learn how to use Apple's I-Movie and Garage Band programs to edit and score your creation. The instructors are all former teachers and now with Florida Center for Instructional Technology at the University of South Florida.

Help Tell Tampa Theatre's Story. A beloved community treasure since 1926 (and listed in the National Register of Historic Places), Tampa Theatre is one of America's best-preserved examples of grand movie palace architecture. To optimize the one-week camp and provide an accelerated learning experience for filmmaking techniques, the films will be based on some aspect of the Theatre's art, architecture or history. All of the movies will become part of Tampa Theatre's Archives and may be used in future education programs.

The Florida Center for Instructional Technology (FCIT) (http://fcit.usf.edu) is located in the College of Education, University of South Florida, at Tampa, Florida. FCIT is funded by the Florida Department of Education, Office of Educational Technology, to provide leadership, instructional materials, and support services to educational institutions with regard to the integration of technology into K-20 education. The faculty members and graduate students in the USF Instructional Technology program contribute to many of the products created by FCIT.

Tuition is $125 for the one-week camp.

Space is limited so please register early.
