(released 9/7/2011; archived 9/10/2011)
By Douglas Lorah

The Coffeehouse Film Review is coming back.  The original started at a coffee house in Ybor and was a 5 year standard in the Tampa film scene.  It changed names during that time to Tampa Film Review and even changed venues.  After a 2 year hiatus, producer Paul Guzzo is bringing it back under the original name, but a new location.

The monthly Coffeehouse Film Review will begin this Thursday, September 8th at 7pm at The Buzz - www.catchthebuzztampa.com.  It is located at 710 Harbour Post Drive across from Café Dufrain on Harbour Island. It will then be held every second Thursday of the month.

This monthly film festival is dedicated to showcasing local independent short films. During its original five-year run it won two Best of the Bay Awards for its impact on the local independent film scene.

September's films will include:

Caged Dreams by Pete Guzzo: An MMA trainer adopts his deceased friend's son, trains him to be a professional fighter and goes to extreme measures to ensure his success. - 25 minutes

Second Hand Hitman by Brian Bourke, Evan Smith and John Sims: Perhaps Craig's List is not the best place to find a hitman. - 8 minutes.

Mondo Sock by John Miller: A rogue cop is driven to the brink of insanity by an elusive nemesis. Starring B-Movie Legend Joel Wynkoop. - 12 minutes.

Pocket Full of Gold by Scatter Brothers Productions: A rural drama starring Andrew Springer (One Tree Hill) as an alcoholic backwoodsman. - 20 minutes
